Abuakwa (Ash), Oct 30, GNA - An official of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has appealed to contributors to the scheme to desist from multiple registrations since they risked losing some of their benefits on retirement.

Mr Emmanuel Agyei-Ntiamoah, Manager of the Adum branch of SSNIT in Kumasi, said he was not happy with the attitude of some contributors who refused to review and update their beneficiaries. He was addressing more than 200 teachers at a forum jointly organised by the SSNIT and Atwima-Nwabiagya District Education Directorate at Abuakwa on Monday.

Similar forums have been held at Nkawie, Adankwame, Barikese and Akropong.

Mr Agyei-Ntiamoah cautioned contributors to the scheme against the tendency of transferring their cards to other and described it as criminal.

Mrs Dinah Appiah, the District Director of Education, described the exercises as crucial and said some workers usually complained of inconsistencies in their statements. She advised teachers to be honest and always give correct and accurate information to SSNIT and said "inconsistencies when filling essential forms usually affect your entitlements". Mr Augustine Atta-Mensah, Abuakwa Zone Chairman of Conference of Basic Heads, commended SSNIT for interacting with the teachers at their work places.
