Accra, Nov.28, GNA - The Ministry of Health on Wednesday acknowledged the distortions in the relativities of doctors and said effort would be made to correct them at the level of the Fair Wages Commission.

At a press conference to update members on the agreement reached with government on outstanding issues of salaries and conditions of service of doctors, Dr. Emmanuel Adom Winful, President of Ghana Medical Association (GMA) said fuel allowances had been reinstated and would be paid effective November, 2007.

He said it had been agreed that House Officers' salary data would be keyed into the Accountant General's database for payment to be effected in December, 2007.

In view of these progressive developments, Dr Winful said leadership had suspended an intended GMA roadmap, adding that they will continue to act in the interest of the entire membership and the public in general.

Dr Winful said the GMA was committed to building the necessary partnerships to move Ghana's health agenda forward and prayed that members were given the needed support to ensure successful deliberations with government.

He said subsequent meeting with the Ministry would culminate in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding next month.
