Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, presidential candidate of the Convention People's party (CPP), has indicated that his running mate could be a woman willing to engage in active politics and effective governance of the country.

He admitted that despite having someone in mind, he had to wait and consult the executive of the party for consensus.

According to him, competence, accomplishment and loyalty to the CPP cause, and someone who could complement effectively his efforts and add to the CPP ticket, were fundamental principles that formed the basis of his choice of a running mate.

He maintained that the though the choice of a running mate was not confined only to women, such a partener had to be competent with a mass appeal to the Ghanaian public.

Mr. Nduom stated that the year 2008 would not be all about the two main ruling parties, the NPP and the NDC, but that this time, the CPP was an alternative and equally effective government in waiting, since Ghanaians had had experience of what the NPP and the NDC were capable of in terms of governance.

He regretabbly noted that Ghanaians are still living in poverty and with deaseases, squalor, energy crises, water and underdevelopment and assured Ghanaians that the CPP was more than capable and would work hard to become the alternative government.
