Accra, April 1, GNA - The Volta River Authority (VRA) on Tuesday expressed shock at the tragic death of two final year students of the Junior High School in Akosombo.

Ms Abla Fiadjoe, Acting Corporate Service of the Volta River Authority, in a statement also expressed sympathy and condolence to the bereaved families of the students who fell off from the second floor of the two-storey school block on March 28, this year.

The statement explained; "In response to media and other enquiries made of VRA since the incident, VRA would like to explain that the JHS is managed and operated as a community school by the Ghana Education Service (GES) and is not part of the Akosombo International School group privately owned by the VRA."

It gave the assurance to residents of Akosombo and the public that it would support the GES to put in place appropriate measures to forestall any future occurrence.
