Chemical workers asked to separate agro-Chemicals from food items

Nyinahin, (Ash) Dec. 16, GNA - Agro-chemical sellers have been

advised to separate food items from agro-Chemicals in their shops since the latter contained toxins which could contaminate food items. Mr. William Osei, District Director for Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA), for Atwima-Mponua, at a day's workshop on the best way to handle agro inputs at Nyinahin. It was organised jointly by MOFA and West Africa Seed Alliance (WASA) for selected agro-Chemical sellers, agriculture extension officers and farmers in the Nyinahin area. Mr. Osei said chemicals could contaminant food items like bread and sugar if not properly preserved.

He advised agro-chemical sellers to form co-operative associations to enable them to have easy access to credit to expand their businesses. The participants were educated on safe application of pesticides, insecticides and agro-Chemicals. 16 Dec. 08
