President Mills leaves for United Kingdom

Accra, May 6, GNA - President John Evans Atta Mills left Accra on Tuesday night for a three-day official visit to the United Kingdom at the invitation of Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

Briefing newsmen at the airport, Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and NEPAD said the talks between President Mills and Premier Brown would centre on improving trade, investment, security and development cooperation between Ghana and the UK.

President Mills will also meet the Prince of Wales, Mr David Miliband, Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, Dr Douglas Garner Alexander, Secretary of State for International Development, Mr Jacqui Smith Secretary of State for the Home Department, and Mr David Cameron, Leader of the Opposition.

Other leaders that President Mills would be meeting are, Lord Malloch-Brown, Minister of State for Africa, Asia and the UN, and Lord Davies of Abersoch, Minister for Trade and Investment, President Mills will also meet British investors, visit the Ghana High Commission, London School of Economics and meet the Ghanaian community.

Accompanied by his wife Naadu, President Mills was seen off by Vice President, John Dramani Mahama, Ministers of State, Chief of Defence Staff and Acting Inspector General of Police.
