Cape Coast, May 12, GNA - The Head of Salaries, Terms and Conditions of Service of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), Mr. Benjamin Kwabena Osei on Monday advised workers who are not satisfied with their salary structures and felt they will not be fairly treated under a new salary regime to seek redress with the Fair Wages Commission.
He said it was the intention of government to ensure equity and fairness in the country's salary structure to bring satisfaction to all workers in all sectors of the economy since they would all be adequately catered for when it becames operational. Mr. Osei, who was speaking at the Annual General Meeting of the managers of GNAT from all over the country in Cape Coast noted that the Single-Spine Salary Structure did not mean automatic increase in salaries but added that some workers will however have salary increment. He urged all workers to exercise restraint as measures are put in place for its effective implementation.

He said the scheme which covers both public servants and those in the non-formal sector provides pensioners mortgage of their pension to enable them to build houses and appealed to beneficiaries of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) to pay back to enable the scheme to function effectively. 12 May 09
