Fiema(B/A),11 Nov.,GNA- Major Derek Oduro (rtd), MP for Nkoranza North, has identified disunity and the non-cooperation as contributory factors for the defeat of the party in the 2008 general election. He therefore stressed the need for supporters and members of the party to eschew petty squabbles and unite to recruit more people for party to ensure total victory in the 2012 general election.
Major Oduro was addressing the party's polling station executives of the Fiema-Boabeng Electoral Area, at the weekend during which the executive members took the oath to serve the party diligently. The MP urged NPP members to regard themselves as "one people who belong to a particular political family" determined to ensure the growth and development of their party, without considering their personal interests and gains.
Major Oduro called on the executive members to collaborate and share ideas on how to win more members for the party and announced that experienced and old members of the party would be tasked to serve as advisors to the leadership of the party throughout the country.
This council of elders will also help initiate strategies that would help in addressing the challenges that the party might face to avoid the mistakes that caused the party's defeat in the 2008 elections, he added. Major Oduro advised the executive members to respect each other's views and cautioned the youth to be wary of politicians who would attempt to woo them into their fold with lies and empty promises. 11 Nov. 09
