Iranian Embassy to support education of Muslim girls

Kumasi, Nov. 25, GNA - The Iranian Embassy in Ghana, has pledged to contribute to the promotion of education of Muslim girls in the country. As a prelude to the initiative, the Embassy would from Thursday, November 26, undertake an eight-week campaign in the Kumasi Metropolis to=

highlight the importance of education to development.

Alhaji Mohammed Yushau, Coordinator of the Campaign, who announced these through GNA in Kumasi on Tuesday, said the drive was necessitated b= y the decline in enrolment of Muslim children, especially girls, in schools= in the metropolis. He called on Ghanaians, particularly Muslims to consider education a= s a powerful and effective weapon for fighting poverty, ignorance, diseases a= nd violence, and invest in the sector.

Alhaji Yushau commended the efforts of the Iranian Embassy and appea= led to Muslims to send their children to school adding that it could help the= m to have a better understanding of the history and ethics of Islam.
