British Airways has announced that it is moving its London service from Gatwick to Heathrow from October 28th 2001. British Airways passengers to and from London will now go through London Heathrow instead of London Gatwick. British Airways will still operate five direct services as week from Accra to London Heathrow.
The release said Heathrow Airport offers travelers extensive facilities including check in at Paddington and Heathrow Express, easy access to London as well as connections to onward destinations. Travelers to Heathrow also enjoy spacious lounges with seating areas, a variety of catering and shopping outlets as well as currency exchange facilities.
The British Airways Africa Visitor Service also operating at Heathrow, with well-trained staff speaking Ga, Fante, Twi and other languages can meet travelers from Ghana requiring this service, BA said.
The Country Manager of British Airways Ghana, Mrs. Essie Anno Sackey said, "we are confident that our customers will enjoy flying with us to and from London Heathrow. The quality of our products and services is unmatched. We have put ourselves in the forefront of customer services and intend to keep ourselves there."
A press release from the airline also announced a number of route network changes, which does not include the Accra-London route.
