Two suspected armed robbers who attempted stealing a Yamaha motor-bike with registration number GV 451 Q belonging to Mr Joseph Asowe a Circuit Supervisor of the Ghana Education Service (GES), have been arrested by the police at Walewale.

The suspected robbers are Baba Dokura Bennett 20, a native of Nandom and Nabila Tia Issac 27, of Kparigu, in the Walewale area.

Narrating his ordeal to the police and the Ghana News Agency at Walewale last Friday, Mr. Asowe said at about 1 a.m., his wife came out of the bedroom to fetch water for their sick child only to find the two robbers in the hall trying to take the motor-bike away.

When she attempted to raise an alarm, the robbers ordered her to shut-up or get shot, she complied but upon close observation she recognised one of them, Baba Dokura, who attends the same church with her and shouted, "Baba, you doing this to me? Are we not in the same church".

When the husband heard the unusual noise in the hall he came out to investigate, only to be shot in his right leg and the shoulder.

The senior son of Mr. Asowe, Simon who also attempted coming to the aid of his father was stabbed with a knife in his right eye.

Fortunately for the besieged family however, a neighbour who heard the noise rushed to the scene with a big stick and as the robbers where pushing the motor-bike out he clubbed one of them, which made them to escape leaving the motor behind.

Mr. Asowe and his son were rushed to the Walewale Hospital for treatment.

Simon has been referred to the Bawku Eye Clinic.

The two suspected armed robbers have since been arrested and placed in police custody while investigations continue.
