Two NDC ‘Executives’ Fingered

A case of forgery of signatures is unfolding at the New Abirem Constituency of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) with the illegitimate Chairman, Nana Boafo Kesse and Rabiu Mohammed, illegitimate Youth Organizer, as the alleged culprits.

Information gathered by The Daily Democrat indicates that the two circulated a letter to some members of the party in the area, suspending them for taking the party to court. The supposedly dismissed persons include Hon Amoako Asiama Napoleon, the DCE of the area and Akosua Owusua, Women’s Organiser of the party. The rest are Mr. Yaw Asante, Nana Donkor Owusu, Mr. Baafi and Mr. Frempong Ben, all members.

In the said letter, the two, Nana Kesse and Rabiu Mohammed, allegedly forged the signature of one Odzeyem Daniel, NDC Constituency Secretary and added it to theirs to give credence to the order of suspension.

The letter, though short, was full of so many grammatical mistakes that one could easily say that Odzeyem, a teacher, did not take part in its drafting.

When contacted, Mr. Odzeyem denied ever taking part in any process to dismiss the said members of the party. He disclosed that he was invited by Rabiu Mohammed who gave him the said letter to be given to the ‘suspended’ members.

“When I opened the letter, I saw the first sentence and told him (Rabiu) that we cannot do that and more over, the letter was badly written,” he narrated.

He said he retrieved the other letters from him but one had already been delivered to Akosua Owusua. He recounted that when he chased Akosua to retrieve the letter, he could not get it so he suspected that she had already shared copies of it to the others.

Mr. Odzeyem, who said he was indisposed, made it clear that he would take an action to dissociate himself from the action and pointed out that he was not a signatory to the letter. He, therefore, wondered how someone could sign on his behalf without his knowledge or consent.

The Daily Democrat has in its possession two of the letters with two different signatures for both Rabiu Mohammed and Odzeyem Daniel, raising suspicion of forgery.

To authenticate the letter that had no logo or date, Nana Boafo Kesse, the illegitimate Chairman, granted an interview to one of the radio stations in the region on 3rd August, this year claiming the ‘suspended’ members were suspended for going to court without recourse laid down party structures for addressing issues.

However, checks by this reporter, who has been following and reporting on this matter, show that several petitions were written by the members to the Constituency, Regional and National offices of the party concerning the illegal way the executives conducted the elections in the constituency. The Founder’s office was also petitioned in the matter; but no action was taken on the matter, compelling Mr. Yaw Asante to take a court action on the matter.

A Koforidua High Court ordered that fresh elections be held in the New Abirem Constituency of the NDC on the 18th May, 2010 following a civil action by Yaw Asante, asking the court to stop the ‘executives’ from holding themselves as such.

After the ruling, the dismissed executives, excluding Akosua Owusua, whose position was not affected by the action, pleaded with the court to set the ruling aside for them to enter appearance.

The court granted their plea with the condition that they pay Mr. Asante, the Plaintiff, GH¢300.00. They have failed to do that and have resorted to the action that is worsening the already-turbulent situation in the party at the constituency.

Stay tuned.
