Editorial: The Illogical Analysis Of Sekou Nkrumah

I’ll Vote For Mills In 2012, But Akufo Addo Will Win

The dismissed Coordinator of the National Youth Council (NYC), Dr. Sekou Nkrumah, was last week in the news again for making yet again another irrational and illogical analyses of the political situation in the country. This time, the man, who is still walking in the shadows of his Late father, predicted that Addo Danqauh Akuffo Addo will win the 2012 elections, should the National Democratic Congress (NDC) re-elect President John Evans Atta Mills as the party’s Presidential Candidate.

The only basis for Dr. Sekou’s analyses is his claim that the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) candidate is, in his view, more charismatic and healthier than Pres Mills. (Note that Sekou is not a Physician and there is no mention in any book that the state of health of country’s President is a catalyst for progress and development of that nation.)

In order to push forward his prediction and provide some rationality to his prediction, Mr. Sekoutore Nkrumah then jumped on radio to amplify his thoughts. Then, The Informer better understood the senseless nature of the comment and the outright stupidity that has taken over the mental faculty of the man who was once respected in the court of public opinion, only as a result of his genes.

On Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, last Thursday, Dr. Nkrumah, after touting what he deems as charismatic leadership in Akuffo Addo, then answered negatively to the question, if he will vote for Akufo Addo at the polls, come 2012. His decision not to vote for his “charismatic leader Akufo Addo” shocked many. Before listeners could come to terms with the developing case, Dr. Sekou then insisted that he will vote for President Mills, should the NDC name him as the party’s flagbearer.

The Informer like many others, is therefore wondering why Sekou Nkrumah will not vote for the man he is campaigning for, as being charismatic and possessing good leadership skills, but vote for the uncharismatic President Mills who according to him has little or no leadership skills.

To answer by saying that Sekou’s voting pattern is as a result of party solidarity, is shameful to say the least. The man who claims to be a believer in noted principles is now sacrificing principles for party solidarity?

The man who did not hesitate to attack the personality of his party’s President and Leader, damning all attempts by the party’s leadership to rope him in, and annoying everybody in the NDC, still has loyalty and solidarity for the party?

If ‘Charismatic Leader’ Akuffo Addo, after enjoying all the pecks, incumbency advantage and massive rigging, especially in the Ashanti and Eastern regions, could not win the 2008 elections, upon which new charisma and displayed good leadership, (in opposition) will he win the 2012 polls?

What has happened to Sekou, is the state of mind that some politicians go into, when things happen around them so quickly, and without their contribution or control, contrary to what used to be the case. The Informer is of the candid opinion that when one visits the southern belt of Hotel Rivera to over-blow his nose with marijuana, only to top-up by inhaling Columbian-Powder, the character after several years of visit, will be reduced to a Sekou-like persona, whose illogicality, attested incompetence and empty brevity defies understanding.

It is therefore not surprising that the Nkrumah family have expressed regret over the comments of their son whose waywardness is leading him to political Armageddon, much to the disappointment of many who looked up to him for classical show of solid ideas that can compete with the ideas of sons and daughters of the Mr. Nobodies, who joined the struggle for independence.

The Informer can bet that Mr. Sekou will not stop here with his nonsensical comments. He is bound to make more mockery of the name Nkrumah. He will question the NDC’s internal processes that will select President Mills for the 2012 ballot. After soundly beating his charismatic leader, in December 2012, Sekou will blame the electoral system for the loss and claim that a fair turf would have produced his charismatic candidate as the winner. In the process he will accuse Ghanaians for selecting an uncharismatic Professor Do Little Instead of a Charismatic Nana Do Nothing.

Watch Out!!
