What a great family and an inspiring family business story!!!
The financial markets in Ghana are, simply put, a huge restraint on business development in the nation, for uncountable factors, Chief among which is the high, suicidal nterest rate charged on both personal and business loans, on both short and long-term loans.
On top of that encumbrance, potential loan-seekers have to fork a huge percentage of their capital to grease the palms of the banks' top brass before the loans are approved, a huge problem that is endemic in all the African nations, unfortunately.
I am very, very happy for this family for their success, against all the odds.

Beautiful article about A&C mall. I am so proud that this a Ghanaian own mall as it should be. It bothers me that the commercial, chain grocery stores are not Ghanaian owned, along with other things. This beautiful couple had set an astounding example of what we can accomplish and what needs to be accomplished by us.

The experience of A/C Mall should wake Ghana up. There are three(3) main factors at play. These are:
1. The negative mind-set which says that the African/ Ghanaian cannot do it.
2. That 80% of the population has such low income; and that does not help the banking system mobilise inevitable savings from the local community. Also it means a limited purchasing power which limits the market for ALL products and services.
3. The Ghanaian banker is caught between a population with a low capaciry to save, and thus a high default propensity.
These three plus other negative factors are constantly mitigating against the Ghanaian seeking to invest in Ghana.
Unfortunately, our INVESTMENT PROMOTION AGENCY has, over the years, operated as if only non-Ghanaian investors NEED encouragement and support from the state.
Political leaders are too busy looking for easy votes; they cant identify these fundamentals. And even when they do, they don't have time to pay proper attention to them.
Wisdom… God bless you Sir for sharing.
