The Majority Leader in Parliament, Mahama Ayariga, has stated that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government is committed to ensuring fairness and equity in public sector recruitment.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament on Friday, February 14, 2025, he highlighted concerns about past practices where party agents or supporters were recruited over more qualified Ghanaians.
Ayariga assured that such practices would not be repeated under the Mahama-led administration, reaffirming their commitment to equitable and fair recruitment processes.
“What was wrong yesterday is still wrong today. But what was done yesterday, which was wrong, must be corrected today. We cannot allow it to stand. The Chief of Staff has said that we should reverse what has happened, and we, on this side of the house, stand by it.
“We will push for it and ensure fairness in the public sector. When it comes to recruitment under our government, I want to assure you that we will uphold fairness, equity, and even-handedness in everything we do,” he said.
He also assured that every young Ghanaian would be given a fair opportunity, as promised by the NDC government.
“Every young Ghanaian will be given a fair opportunity—an opportunity they were denied in the past. We will provide every young Ghanaian with the opportunities they deserve because, as we promised, we are resetting this country, and the reset begins now,” he added.
