Mamponghene, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II and Kennedy Agyapong
Former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, has described the late Mamponghene, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, as a steadfast advocate for good governance, the rule of law, and political tolerance.
In a post shared on his X page on Monday, April 28, 2025, he lauded the late Mamponghene for his invaluable contributions to Asanteman.
"His contribution to the nation spans decades of public service and sterling leadership to Asanteman and the National House of Chiefs. He was a great advocate for good governance, respect for the rule of law, political tolerance, and economic empowerment, particularly for the youth.
"His demise is a tragic loss not just for Asanteman, but for Ghana at large," he wrote.
On Monday, April 28, 2025, the Mampong Traditional Council and the Bretuo Dynasty officially informed the Asantehene of the passing of Mamponghene, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II.
Until his death, he served as the Vice President of the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs and was the esteemed occupant of the Silver Stool, a position of immense traditional significance in the Asante Kingdom.
He was 86.
