The fundamental requirement for success in any sector, including Agriculture, is planning and direction. It is necessary to do the ff: 1. What are our strategic crops?? 2. Which geographical areas in Ghana do these crops do well. 3. How do we direct strategic attention to these facts ie. A. Encourage landowners in those areas to grant long leases to farming enterprises.B. Encourage farming enterprises to invest in those crops in those geographically advantageous areas. C. Encourage processing and value addition enterprises. D. DECREE a lower interest rate for agric. and agro-related businesses. Encouraging students of Agric.is fine; but it is impractical to expect that small number to move our agriculture. Their major role is being part of the SUPPORT SERVICES for Agric.business.
