  It'like some of you just listen to politicians then come on line to speak ignorantly. There are reasons for devaluing your currency not only for export. Some times devaluing of currencies can also be good for import. You only devalue your currency when the countries you are exporting to have devalued currencies as a means of trade revenge. Now if Ghana want to devalue the cedis,it will be against the dollar and US have placed heavy taxes on Ghanaian goods,you don't devalue your currency against the dollar again, because the taxes will weaken your currency more. You allow market forces to determine the rate,that's demand and supply and that's what Ghana is doing. Ghana is now exporting more gold than before through right channels,so the currency will be stable base on demand on Ghanaian commodities. As simple as that.

The dollar is the most overpriced currency in the world and it won't survive the coming years and that's what you should be concerned about and not our powerful cedi. The cedi has been a sleeping giant and all it needs is management. If we manage our resources well it would be stronger than most currencies in the world
