The lead found in dad3sen is a deliberately added finishing in the local cookware making process. It is used to give the cookware a shine to attract customers. This problems is not new . The Food and Drugs Authority made lot of noise about it years ago but as usual stopped short of acting to effectively stop this practice. Ghanaian institutions that are supposed to protect the population don't seem to know what their mandate is.

Just read the article, Ama Klutse has forgotten the name of the NGO that conducted the research. What stops FDA, GH Health Service, etc. from placing a total ban on production and use of this cooking pot? Sadly, I've doctors and nurses buy Waakye and Kwankwan from dadesen by the roadside near a choked gutter. We talk more than we act.
