Why is this government official complaining? You have been appointed as a transport minister, if excavators are not good for mining activities, take action and stop complaining. Politicians have enacted mining laws that allow small scale miners to use excavators in their mining activities and so what's the problem. The small scale miners are using excavators to destroy our forest reserves and water bodies and the politicians are crying. Deal with it because the illegal miners are winning because they are destroying our forest reserves on daily basis and very soon there will be no forest reserves in the country

This is common sense to fight galamsey.Importation must be for only legitimate companies.All excavators must re-registered by legal companies and all number plate including cars, busses, trucks and DV -PLATE must re-registered by the owners.In Ghana most number plates are FAKE.Some number plates owners are late years back.I know what am telling you.Many cars in Ghana that belongs to the middle class didn't pay nothing at the port in Akuffo Addo regime.Gabby octhere Darko lead his cronies to clear cars at the port.Check those luxury cars in Ghana and you see most of them pay nothing at the port specially those so call rich men and women and because no officer can approach them for control.Ghana can be better place when the government is serious to apply the law by the law.

Stop lamenting and use your governmental authority to ensure that the excavators are used for legit purposes only. The government has the resources to go after bad actors who use excavators to engage in criminal conduct. Those importing these excavators must have represented on record how they intend to use the excavators. If it's determined that these excavators are used for illegal mining, or some other unauthorized business, then prosecute the culprits and seize their excavators.

What a good move, if we really want to fight galamsey we don't need to be chasing small boys around in the bush, just simply ban the importation of excavators and other related galamsey equipment like the chanfan machines and ban all the Chinese selling these equipments all the way along the road side from Kumasi to Takwa, this will seriously reduce galamsey activities in country and save our water bodies and forest reserve
