Exercising his executive powers, President John Dramani Mahama has nominated fifteen individuals to serve as Ambassadors, Consular-Generals, and High Commissioners in his first batch of diplomatic appointments.
In a formal letter dated June 10, 2025, from the Office of the President and signed by Secretary to the President, Callistus Mahama, PhD, the nominations followed consultations with the Council of State.
The appointees come from diverse backgrounds, professions, and areas of expertise, and are expected to represent Ghana for the next four years, subject to any changes to strengthen the country’s bilateral and diplomatic relations with its international partners.

Kojo Bonsu
Kojo Bonsu, who has been nominated to represent Ghana as Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, boasts extensive political experience, having formerly served as Mayor of Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Region.
He is also a businessman and a sports administrator with ties to the Tamale-based club Real Tamale United.
In 2010, he was appointed board chairman of the National Sports Authority (NSA), and later served on a council under the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
He then moved on to serve as a board member for Ghana Oil Company (GOIL).
Kalsoume Sinare Baffoe
Kalsoume has been nominated as Ghana’s envoy to the Kingdom of Spain.
She is a Ghanaian actress who has starred in numerous roles both locally and internationally, earning several awards for her performances including honors at the Ghana Movie Awards in recognition for her contribution to the creative arts sector.
In 2021, she was celebrated at the Golden Movie Awards Africa for her enduring legacy in the industry.
Kalsoume is also a filmmaker and a former model.
Professor Kwasi Obiri-Danso
Nominated as Ghana’s High Commissioner to India, he served as a former Vice Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
As an academia, he has extensive experience in general education, international relations and outreach services delivery.
He also has vast institutional management experience, research management experience and boardroom experience, university teaching, collaborative research.
He has headed and earned membership of high-profile Boards, Committees and Teams.

Nii Amasah Namoale
The politician and an agronomist by profession has been nominated as the envoy to the Federative Republic of Brazil.
He served as a Member of Parliament for La Dadekotopon from 2009 to 2017 and also worked as a Deputy Minister of Agriculture.
Hammed Rashid Tunde Ali
Ali is heading to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Serving as a member of the board of directors for Design and Technology Institute, he boasts of over 40 years of industry experience and an accomplished shipping and logistics professional and corporate governance expert.
Ali held several senior management roles as former CEO of PSC Tema Shipyard Ltd and General Manager at DHL Ghana, Delmas Shipping and Maersk Ghana.
Captain George Kofi Nfodjoh
Nfodjoh is heading to the Togolese Republic, bringing with him vast experience from his political career, having served as a Member of Parliament for Ho Central in the 4th Parliament.
Earlier in his career, he worked as a journalist and advertiser with AGC Limited in Obuasi from 1987 to 1997.
He later served as the District Chief Executive of the Ho District from 1997 to 2001, before becoming a captain in the Ghana Armed Forces, where he worked in the Public Relations Department.
Labik Joseph Yaani
Headed to Equatorial Guinea, Yaani is a seasoned politician who served as Member of Parliament for the Bunkpurugu-Yunyoo Constituency from 1993 to 2009, representing the constituency across the 1st to 4th Parliaments of the 4th Republic as an independent candidate.
He is an alumnus of the University of Ghana.
Dr Margaret Miewien Chebere
Headed to Denmark, Dr Chebere served as a former Deputy Director of Human Resources Division of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) and comes on board with her vast experience and expertise in Human Relations.
Dora Francisca Edu-Buandoh, Ph.D
She is a professor of English and the first female Pro Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) heading to Canada.
She holds a PhD from the University of Iowa, USA; MPhil Bachelor’s degrees in English from the University of Cape Coast and a Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA.
She was the Provost of the College of Humanities and Legal Studies from 2016-2018 and also the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, the Head of Department of English and the Coordinator for the Communicative Skills programme.
Professor Edu-Buandoh has also won numerous awards including; the T. Anne Cleary International Dissertation Award by the University of Iowa, Fulbright Award by the United States Government, Government of Ghana Scholarship, Graduate Fellowship by Ohio University, AILA Solidarity Award by the Association Internationale de Linguistique Appliquée (International Association of Applied Linguistics) and the Alpha Delta Kappa International Women Educators Award.
Theresah Adjei-Mensah
Adjei-Mensah is headed to the Czech Republic as Ghana’s envoy and is expected to strengthen the country’s diplomatic and bilateral relations with the Czech people as an academic heavyweight.
Dr Felix Kumah Godwin Anebo
Dr Anebo, also an academic heavyweight, is headed to Senegal and expected to bring scholarly insight to Ghana’s diplomacy.
Abdul Nasiru-Deen
Nasiru-Deen will be representing Ghana in the Republic of Turkey as its envoy.
Professor Ohene Adjei
The learned professor heads to the Federal Republic of Germany as Ghana’s Ambassador.
Grace El Mahmoud Marabe
Marabe is also headed to the United Arab Emirates, specifically Dubai. This signals Ghana’s ambition to tap into Gulf investment, trade, and tourism.
Benjamin A. Quashie
He is headed to the Republic of South Africa.
