Parties to a employment agreement have the right to write to each other that they are not interested in the services of the one employed and the worker also saying that he or she is no longer interested in the job.
The council for the one who is supposed to have been terminated is saying that the person has been dismissed or sacked.
Being sacked or dismissed all amount to termination of appointment, depending on the circumstance under which one lost his job.
The problem with Ghanaians is that we don't understand what summarily dismissal means.
Summarily means in terms of employment according to the Advance English Dictionary 2 (sometimes derogatory) done or given immediately, without attention to details or formal procedure.
So when a person misconducted himself or herself he or she is summarily, meaning immediately dismissed without even he or she been listened to, or even told what he or she did, since he or she is aware that the action taken by him or her is a misconduct.
Most employers don't want their companies to be a matter in the courts, so certain misconducts of their employee which should have landed in the courts are cut short with a summarily dismissal, meaning immediate termination of the working relations.
