US billionaire investor and philanthropist Alex Soros, son of George Soros, has met with President John Dramani Mahama in Accra.
Since the 1990s, the Soros family has channelled much of its wealth into supporting democracy-building efforts in dozens of countries.
A post shared on July 18, 2025, by Accra-based Channel One TV highlighted a meeting held at Jubilee House that has drawn significant attention from diplomatic and philanthropic circles.
Although the details remain undisclosed, the discussion is believed to have focused on governance, democracy, and development initiatives across Ghana and Africa.
Alex Soros, who now chairs the Open Society Foundations established by his father, has demonstrated a growing interest in global affairs and Africa’s democratic future over the years.
Key government officials, including Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and Energy Minister John Abdulai Jinapor, were in attendance, along with several others.
