Energy minister tours energy commission, calls for sector collaboration

The Minister of Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor as part of his familiarisation tour of energy agencies under the Ministry visited the Energy Commission. 

His visit to the commission forms part of a broader effort in interacting with the staff and align the ministry's vision with that of the commission.

Speaking during the meeting, the sector minister, commended the Commission’s work and urged staff to serve with dedication and ownership, stating, “The role of this Commission cannot be overemphasized. Treat this organisation as if it is your own. Do your best to serve Ghana, and as Minister, I will continue to advocate for your welfare.”



For her part, the Acting Executive Secretary of the Energy Commission, Eunice Biritwum presented a comprehensive overview of the commission's mandate, structure, vision, achievements, and challenges.

Key highlights of the visit included the launch of a solar-powered electric vehicle charging station, the development of national EV standards, the enforcement of appliance efficiency regulations, and the certification of over 18,000 professionals under the Electrical Wiring Regulations in line with the vision of President John Dramani Mahama.

John Jinapor also engaged the Chairman and staff of the ECOWAS Regional Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERERA) where he was briefed on ERERA’s regional mandate in regulating cross-border electricity exchange within the ECOWAS sub-region.
