28 areas to be affected by 2025 La Homowo Festival noise-making ban

The La State Council, in collaboration with the La Dadekotopon, Ayawaso West, La Nkwantanang-Madina, and Adentan municipal assemblies, has announced a ban on noisemaking.

The directive will be in effect from 6:00 pm on Monday, August 11, 2025, to 6:00 pm on Friday, September 5, 2025.

According to a graphiconline.com report on August 4,2025, the restriction is part of preparations for the annual Homowo Festival, aimed to ensure a solemn atmosphere for traditional and spiritual rites under the theme: ‘Respect for all: The foundation for a stronger society’.

The ban applies to the following 28 areas:

1. La Township

2. Kaajiano

3. Ako Adjei

4. Nyaniba Estates

5. Labone

6. Cantonments

7. Flagstaff House Area

8. 37 Military Hospital Area

9. Tse-Addo

10. Burma Camp

11. Legon

12. Shiashi

13. Bawaleshi

14. Okponglo

15. Mpenhuasem

16. Ogbojo

17. Ashale Botwe

18. Agbogba

19. Madina-Nkwantanan-Atiman

20. Adentan

21. Oyarifa

22. Teiman

23. Ayi Mensah

24. Frafraha

25. Amanfro

26. Ashye

27. Amrahia

28. Maale Jor

The council has directed all residents, churches, mosques, hotels, eateries, and other business and social establishments in these zones to adhere strictly to the ban.

Violators will face traditional sanctions, with authorities promising strict enforcement.

The Homowo Festival, a major Ga cultural celebration, commemorates a historical event that marked the end of a famine and the arrival of abundance.

The noise ban, a long-standing custom, ensures the rites are carried out without disturbances from the public.
