The late Dr Omane Boamah, Defence Minister
As the country prepares to bid a final farewell to the late Defence Minister, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, an emotional message he once penned to celebrate his mother on her 70th birthday has emerged.
With a deep sense of emotion and a great show of gratitude, Dr Boamah’s message has touched many hearts on Facebook, where he personally shared it in a post.
It reads “Happy 70th Birthday.” "A child can", truly, "not pay for his mother's milk." “Thank you. God bless you abundantly and grant you many more healthy and fulfilling decades.”
Multiple sources have confirmed that Dr Edward Omane Boamah was deeply devoted to his 76-year-old mother, and as the only son, Dr Boamah's attachment to his mother was evident in his frequent worries about his mother’s future care.
According to Sam George, who is one of the closest allies of the late minister, Dr Boamah cared so much about his aged mother and was deeply concerned about her future.
In a tribute to Dr Omane Boamah, Samuel George stated that Dr Omane Boamah will often ask, "Who would take care of your Mum if anything were to ever happen to you?"
This glimpse into Dr Boamah's personal life highlights the strong bond he shared with his mother.
The crash of the Z9 helicopter, which belonged to the Ghana Armed Forces, claimed the lives of Defence Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah and Environment, Science and Technology Minister, Alhaji Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed on August 6 2025.

Others were: Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna; former Central Regional Minister, Samuel Sarpong and Samuel Aboagye, a former parliamentary candidate.
Members of the helicopter’s crew were Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Malin Twum-Ampadu and Sgt. Ernest Addo Mensah.
Both Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed and Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna, who were Muslims among the victims, have been buried.
However, the remaining six victims will be buried on Friday, August 15, 2025.
