There should be proper scheduling of Committee meetings to ensure attendance of all MPs in sessions of the Committee of the Whole since that is where the core functions of parliamentarians take place. Citizens are always desirous to see their MPs associating in deliberations in the main chamber which -- technically, existentially, spiritually, legally.and politically represents the visible and practical demonstration of -- the forum/aassemblage óf the people through the representatives. Anything short of this is an internalized truncation of representation; anti-thetical to conceptualization of parliamentary democracy. Barring any duly sanctioned national, official or strategic encumbrances, pro rata, all MPs should attend parliamentary deliberations and passing of laws as a prima facie duty to which commitment should be exacted by the Speaker and the electorates/citizenry for compliance. in the final analysis, any attempt to over-emphasize Committee work ramp up reasons for absence of MPs in the main chamber is disingenuous and untenable. The Committee work should be strategically scheduled without interference with the main parliamentary sessions in fairness to all MPs as well. Of course, Visibility and meaningful contributions to debate are essential ingredients for citizens value judgement on the performances of their MPs. We can't run away from this reality.
