The 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) officially commenced nationwide on August 4, 2025, beginning with the practical sessions.

The written papers started on August 20, 2025 and are scheduled to run until September 19, 2025.

During a visit by GhanaWeb on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, to St Thomas Aquinas Senior High School in Accra, candidates were seen writing the Financial Accounting paper.

The Headmaster of the school, Reverend Father Dr George Obeng Appah, expressed satisfaction with the smooth conduct of the exams, commending both students and invigilators for their discipline.

“So far, so good. We’ve not recorded any incidents of malpractice. Everything has gone very well. You know this is a Catholic school, so we are maintaining high standards even with the examinations. I’ve told my boys that these exams are not just a test of their academic ability but also a test of their integrity. They’ve taken that to heart, and so far, I have not recorded any incident,” he said.

According to him, the school placed strong emphasis on preparation and integrity ahead of the exams. Students and invigilators were given extensive briefings to ensure adherence to examination rules, measures he believes have contributed to the smooth exercise.

“We really prepared the students. We cautioned them. We held a lot of briefings for them, and also for the invigilators. All of us are playing by the rules, and so far, nobody has gone against them. It has been very smooth,” he noted.

Security at the centre was tight, with officials maintaining strict supervision to ensure compliance with WAEC regulations.
