Ghana Embassy in Washington to resume consular services from October 2025

The Embassy of Ghana in Washington, DC, has announced plans to revive its community outreach programme from October 2025, taking passport and visa services directly to Ghanaian communities across the United States.

This initiative forms part of efforts to improve service delivery at the Mission following recent restructuring.

The Deputy Head of Consular Affairs at the Embassy, Tsatsu Selormey, who made the announcement during GhanaFest’25 in Dallas, Texas, said full consular services had been restored with a renewed commitment to efficiency and transparency.

According to him, the upcoming outreach programme is designed to serve Ghanaians in cities and states far from Washington, DC, where travelling to the Embassy can be challenging.

“Teams will visit different communities to provide consular support, including passport renewals, visa applications, and other related services,” he explained.

Selormey emphasized that the Embassy does not engage middlemen and urged applicants to apply directly for passports and visas to ensure prompt service.

He further called on Ghanaians in the diaspora to build stronger community ties, support one another, and proudly project Ghana as a key destination for investment and tourism.

He assured that the Mission remains “fully prepared and committed to serving the Ghanaian community and the wider diasporan public to the very best of its ability.”

The festival, held on September 20, 2025, brought together chiefs, leaders of ethnic associations, and vendors of Ghanaian goods and services in a celebration of heritage and identity.

It served as a platform for Ghanaians from the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex to showcase culture, music, dance, and cuisine under the banner of the Council of Ghanaian Associations (COGA-DFW).
