  The essence of adding new players to a soccer team for an impending higher-level tournament is to strategically enhance the squad's strengths and rectify weaknesses with targeted talent. The objective is not simply to add numbers but to introduce specific skills, tactical depth, and fresh perspectives to prepare for more challenging competition. To some of us who through this ghanaweb comment’s section urged them (players) not to come because of past “mistreatment” of others in the past, are now saying “We don’t want them “. Let me be simple, if Kotoko or Hearts are to represent Ghana in next year’s CAF championship would it right or wrong to augment their teams? To we the hypocrites, assuming Doku, Gapko, Mainoo, ,Alonzo Davis.,Harlan, Mbape have Ghanaian roots and are not attached to any country, are we going to say NO! The World Cup is like a month old thing. Mr Otto Addo, note this, the mouths that are saying NO today are going to be the ones that will blame you for not augmenting the squad. Today there are modern and sophisticated and advanced weapons; if there is a war with another country , God forbid, are going to ride horses with chariots and bows and arrows? What makes France, Germany, etc great soccer nations. The answer is over 75% of players come from all over the world. From now to the beginning of the next World Cup, let’s play matches and assess them. Somebody just whispered in my ears saying, if they join the team, the current players would not be happy. Really, before they were called up for the Black Stars, others were dropped. Little politics; what happened when Akuffo Addo refused to drop Ken Ofori-Atta, what was the consequence? Your guess is good as mine,,,,As professionals, I believed they are going to be professionals and would not care about who join hem. Assuming all of sudden, a local player is playing like Abedi or Polo or Osei Kofi or Razak or O Ansah must he be considered OR not

  Now that we are bound for the world cup that they are willing to join us without any strings? Is that commitment on their part? I don't think so. It is only when their attempts to penetrate into the English team failed that they've Nicodemously shown interest in representing Ghana. I wouldn't consider that as a willing interest to be part of a cause. They are being opportunistic. We should try to avoid that.

  While your argument appears to be sound, you miss the point. No one is saying, the coach should not augment the team. However, he should do that with committed players and not opportunistic players. These players were invited at a time when Ghana really needed them and they refused because they were hoping to be called to the English National team. You use Germany as an example but no German playing anywhere in the world will refuse a call up to the German National team. They see it an honor. Unfortunately the likes of Hudson Odoi, Nketiah and Welbeck only saw it an opportunity to exploit. As a nation, we should send out a clear message that we won’t tolerate this kind of attitude.

Sports personalities who played football few decades cannot be verified as Hearts of Oak players, just like the case of Bismack Odoi. The journalist can easily research from the newspapers between 1976 - 1979. At that period Hearts of Oak were blessed with impact players like Adolf Armah, Mohammed Polo, Douglas Tagoe, Bismack Odoi, John Yawson, Samuel Suppey,.Seth Ampadu, etc etc .Most of these players are still alive including journalist who wrote for our newspapers.
  So I do not expect the writer of this story to show a shed of doubt as to whether Bismack Odoi played for Hearts.

Sports personalities who played football few decades cannot be verified as Hearts of Oak players, just like the case of Bismack Odoi. The journalist can easily research from the newspapers between 1976 - 1979.
