I like the BYD Yu7. That Chinese brand has advanced tech and is highly welcome. If they want to succeed in the sub-region, they should consider building the capacity of vehicle repairers on how to fix EVs and provide better tools to aid repairs. Government should also stop the madness among politicians which is causing KNUST to deviate from original purpose.

The market is there and Ghana should move quickly to take advantage of it.

I am happy to hear our new high commissioners and ambassadors are not just sitting in their offices but working hard in partnering such bold investments. My issue with electric cars in our country is the problems we currently facing with our electricity power generating and distribution. We havent stabilised our power supply network . Dumsor is still hunting us like a wicked mother or father in law. If we manage to fix our power generation , we will all rock and roll with electric cars, buses, trains etc. Let us borrow to build solar energy farms across the country to generate power back to our national grid. Lets offer incentives to businesses, home owners, schools , government buildings, hospitals , airports to invest in solar power. The surplus power generated can be transferred back to the national grid to store and those who transfer surplus power generated can be paid through discounts on their bills. Its a huge asking but will pay off as we are now a fast growing country in terms of industry and foreign investment.

It's an interesting development, but we should understand that this means Ghana can never have an indigenous electric vehicle brand. No Ghanaian startup would ever be able to compete against this Chinese giant.
