The Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has urged spare parts dealers at Abossey Okai to further reduce the prices of their goods in line with Ghana’s improving economic conditions.

She explained that the sustained appreciation of the cedi has eased foreign exchange pressures on imports, creating room for downward price adjustments.

The Minister also highlighted the removal of the COVID-19 levy and strengthened fiscal measures as key government interventions aimed at reducing the burden on businesses.

These, she noted, have contributed to lowering import costs and improving the overall trading environment.

Speaking after an engagement with spare parts dealers in Accra on Monday, January 12, 2026, Ofosu-Adjare said; “In fairness, about 80% of the people I spoke to have cut prices, and drivers here confirm it. A few have not yet reflected the cedi’s gains, but I am encouraged by the discussions and their willingness to adjust.”

“From February, March, thereabouts, I am expecting prices to even be better than what I’m seeing now. But generally, I think that their prices are good,” Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare added.

She expressed optimism that prices will continue to decline, stressing that the removal of the COVID levy will naturally reduce import duties.
