Activist and lawyer Oliver Barker-Vormawor has expressed disappointment in the United States government following its decision to suspend new visa processing for applicants from 75 countries, including Ghana.

On January 14, 2026, a spokesperson for the US State Department released a list of countries for which the Trump administration will suspend visa processing, with the directive taking effect on January 21, 2026.

Reacting to the new directive, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, in a post shared on X on January 14, 2026, has described the United States as an oppressor that is never satisfied with abusing other countries.

According to Barker-Vormawor, the US took advantage of Ghana by using the country as a dumping ground for deportees.

“America is a bully that is never satisfied. They used us and dumped us with that bogus deportees deal. Now that they have gotten what they wanted, they have reimposed an even more aggressive visa ban on Ghana,” he said.

The social activist further called on the Ghanaian government to respond by imposing similar visa restrictions on the United States.

“The correct response now is for us to impose reciprocal bans and threaten a review of the military agreement,” he noted.

Meanwhile, in November 2025, Trump vowed to “permanently pause” migration from what he described as “Third World countries” following a shooting near the White House by an Afghan national that killed a National Guard member.
