The Government of Ghana has ordered four Airbus helicopters to boost its defense, security, and transport capabilities, Airbus Helicopters has announced.

Under the contract awarded by the Ministry of Defence, Ghana will acquire two H175M helicopters, one ACH175, and one ACH160.

In a statement issued by Airbus on Thursday, January 15, 2026, the company indicated that the two H175Ms are expected to serve as multi-mission helicopters for transport, search and rescue, emergency medical services, and disaster relief.

The ACH175 and ACH160 are intended primarily for transport duties.

Head of the Africa and Middle East Region for Airbus Helicopters, Arnaud Montalvo said Ghana’s decision to work with Airbus reflects the country’s commitment to customer support.

“The commitment from Ghana marks the return of Airbus Helicopters to the country with a defined focus on customer support and partnership,” Montalvo said.

He added, “We are particularly excited that the H175M will be operated in Ghana, demonstrating the aircraft's versatility across defense and security missions. This key deal also makes Ghana a leading customer in West Africa for our premium corporate helicopters, the ACH160 and ACH175.”

The H175, which has been in service since 2014, belongs to the super-medium class of helicopters and combines long-range capability with high payload and smooth flight performance.

Airbus said the aircraft is suited for a wide range of missions, including disaster relief, search and rescue, public services, military operations, offshore and onshore transport, as well as private and business aviation.

Airbus also highlighted the advanced features of the ACH160, describing it as the most technologically advanced helicopter in the world.

“The ACH160 is the latest member of the ACH family and is the world's most technologically advanced helicopter, with 68 new Airbus patented technologies,” the company said.
