  They were selling out locations seriously to private businesses and leaving the real pharmacists suffer because they couldn’t match the money paid for locations.
  400 meters rule were only used against pharmacists but 200 meters or less for business men.
  God save the pharmacy profession in Ghana.

  In as much as those people at pharmacy council are something else, let me tell you this decision is the worse. It will rather empower the council to use their discretion and the owners may not be able to protest. This will allow the big businesses to swallow up the small ones. Already we are witnessing that. The distance based was preventing the big ones from setting up close. I'd rather the minister reduces the distance than use population. How would one know the population of an area

  It’s already happening. Small pharmacist owned shops are being swallowed by the big business men for some reasons only known to the council. I have been rejected more than 20 times at certain locations , same building and same shop only to see a new permit given to a non pharmacist business owner to open a pharmacy shop in a year’s time.
  We are killing our profession through some form of greediness from some of our leaders. It’s so sad.
  That’s why I prefer what the minister suggested so we can all apply for good locations and compete by providing good pharmaceutical care to our lovely patients.
  The business men don’t want to even hire the right people, they just hire MCA’s to manage our patients instead. It’s all about profit into their pockets and nothing else!
