A convener of pressure group Arise Ghana, Dramani Selorm Nudokpo Dzramado, has explained why the group’s recent picketing at the United States Embassy was focused solely on former finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta and not other former public officials currently under investigation but living abroad.
Speaking to GhanaWeb’s correspondent, Mandy Agyemang, at the event on January 20, 2026, Dzramado said the protest was deliberately targeted at Ofori-Atta and should not be misconstrued as a selective or partisan action.

“This whole picket is about Ken Ofori-Atta. It is not about Sedina Tamakloe, it is not about those you have mentioned, it is about Ken Ofori-Atta,” he said.
He added that Arise Ghana has not abandoned concerns about other former officials, insisting that accountability efforts will be extended to them in due course.
“As for those individuals, their time will come. Arise Ghana has something special for them too, [but] for this one, it's for Ken Ofori-Atta,” he stated.
Dzramado also stressed that Arise Ghana operates as a non-partisan civic movement, warning members against placing party interests above the group’s principles.
According to him, loyalty to the country, not political parties, is the core requirement for membership.
“Arise Ghana, fortunately, is a non-partisan group. You may see NDC people among us, but we don't give them that chance for them to hold our platform to ransom. When you want to join Arise Ghana, the first thing you must do is swear allegiance to Ghana, not to a political party.
“So, if you are in Arise Ghana and you think that Arise Ghana is taking a decision, an initiative, that would be injurious to the electoral fortunes of your party, then you must bow [out] or be expelled from Arise Ghana, because we don't do partisan stuff,” he said.
Reiterating the group’s position, Dzramado said investigations involving other individuals such as Sedina Tamakloe would also be pursued.
“So Sedina Tamakloe and the other person you have mentioned, their time will definitely come, it will be their time very soon but today it's about Ken Ofori-Atta,” he stressed.
He further accused the former finance minister of conduct that, in his view, demands public accountability.
“There's something about Ken Ofori-Atta, that is why we are compelled to do this picket. He's a very stubborn, pig-headed, stiff-necked person, very canny and crafty, always using the bible scriptures as a veneer for his shady deals,” he alleged.
“So that is why that gentleman must come here to account for the decisions he took as the Minister for Finance, the initiatives he made, the contracts he signed for and on behalf of Ghana as the Minister for Finance,” he added.
He warned that failure to ensure accountability could have serious consequences for the country’s democratic system.
Frank Davies responds to Bernard Mornah’s unverified accusations against Ofori-Atta
“Without accountability, our democracy will crumble. The democracy will be no more; Accountability is the bedrock, is the mainstay of democratic government. Without accountability, democracy is no democracy. That is the majesty and beauty of democracy,” he concluded.
