The Circle area of Accra is grappling with the aftermath of a devastating fire that occurred on January 20, 2026, as survivors begin to share their harrowing experiences.
According to a report filed by GhanaWebTV’s Naomi Appiah-Danquah on January 21, 2026, the blaze swept through the heart of the bustling commercial district, leaving a trail of destruction and plunging business owners and residents into shock and despair.
“Our shops have been reduced to ashes,” lamented one shop owner, her voice trembling with emotion.
Fire breaks out at Madina Market in Accra
Witnesses described the chaos and panic that ensued as the fire rapidly spread through the densely populated area. Many shared similar sentiments, expressing deep concern over the outbreak.
Several victims recounted desperate attempts to salvage what they could, while others were forced to flee for their lives, watching helplessly as the flames consumed their livelihoods.
