The Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) has restored electricity supply to homes and businesses in Sunyani, the Bono Regional capital, following two days of intermittent outages that disrupted economic and social activities across the municipality.

The interruptions, which resulted in an eight-hour power rationing, were attributable to a technical fault on a key distribution transformer supplying power to parts of the Sunyani township and beyond.

According to the Sunyani Area Manager of NEDCo, Ing. Eugene Odoi Addo, a team of engineers was immediately dispatched to assess the fault and carry out emergency repair works to fully restore power to the affected areas.

“Our engineers worked throughout the night and have been able to fix the problem, so as I speak, we have restored power to all our customers now, and so anybody without power should kindly let us know”.

Ing. Eugene Odoi Addo disclosed that following the restoration of power in the early hours of Wednesday, January 21, 2026, the load-shedding timetable, which was earlier released, has subsequently been suspended.

“For now, the load shedding timetable has been suspended, following the improvements in the power supply situation, unless something unforeseen occurs”.

He further assured the public that the power company remains on high alert and will continue to closely monitor developments to ensure sustained and stable electricity delivery to its cherished customers.

Meanwhile, residents of Sunyani have commended the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) for its swift response in addressing the crisis, praising the power distributor for acting promptly to restore supply and minimise the disruption to households and businesses.
