Former Ghana international Matthew Amoah has shared insight into André Ayew’s first week in the Netherlands, highlighting the light-hearted challenging conditions the experienced forward faced after joining NAC Breda, while praising his professionalism and immediate impact.

Speaking about Ayew’s transition, Amoah explained that the former Black Stars captain walked into a completely different environment after spending several months in Ghana.

“It was a whole different atmosphere for him as he walked in. He was in Ghana for five or six months, and over there, it’s always 30-32 degrees, it’s always warm. So getting here at this time, being winter season, he struggled a bit with the weather, but he delivered on his debut,” the NAC Breda strikers' coach said.

Ayew’s move to NAC Breda came during the peak of the European winter, presenting a sharp contrast to the tropical conditions he had become accustomed to in Ghana. The sudden change, Amoah noted, was one of the first hurdles the 34-year-old had to overcome upon arrival.

In a light-hearted exchange, Amoah asked Ayew about the conditions, to which the forward responded with a laugh:

“It was super cold here, Senior. Coming directly into the snow,” Ayew said jokingly.

Despite the physical and environmental challenges, Ayew showed his experience and adaptability by producing an impressive performance on his debut for the Dutch side.

Ayew’s ability to quickly adjust has been welcomed by NAC Breda, who are counting on his leadership and experience to strengthen the squad for the remainder of the season.
