So after 14 solid years of marriage, suddenly the miracle baby shows up—and now the testimony tour begins. Fair enough. Infertility is real. Painful. Humbling. Even with money, doctors, IVF, prayers, anointing oil and WhatsApp fasting groups, nature still doesn’t always cooperate. Science can assist life, but it can’t bully biology. That’s the uncomfortable truth many don’t like to admit.
But here’s where society’s hypocrisy kicks in.
In 2026, with all our so-called education, podcasts, TED Talks and “mental health awareness” hashtags, childless couples are still treated like cursed land. Families whisper. Churches side-eye. Communities diagnose spiritual problems where medical science is still scratching its head. We clap for fertility testimonies but quietly shame those still waiting. Enlightenment, my foot.
Now to the louder question people are asking on the streets, not in press conferences:
If the pain was that deep for 14 years, why not adopt even one child?
Plenty of abandoned kids. Plenty of homes needed. Or is adoption suddenly good only for speeches and NGOs, but not for people who “want their own blood”?
And let’s not pretend timing doesn’t matter. When politicians discover vulnerability, suddenly personal struggles become campaign material. Yesterday it was silence; today it’s “my story must inspire the nation.” Is this healing… or branding?
Nobody is mocking the pain. Infertility is not a joke.
But using it selectively—while society continues to mock, shame, and exclude childless couples—that’s where the problem is.
Real enlightenment won’t come from microphones and sympathy interviews.
It will come the day we stop measuring marriages by babies, stop treating adoption like a consolation prize, and stop weaponizing personal struggles for political pity points.
Until then, the streets will keep asking questions. And they won’t be polite about it.
