During his three-day state visit to Zambia, President John Dramani Mahama did not only engage in talks to strengthen bilateral relations, but he also made headlines for his choice of attire, an iconic traditional smock, and a quick act of attentiveness that prevent a near tragedy.

This was after the president ensured that an unidentified woman, going up stage, did not fall while climbing during the Zambia-Ghana Business Dialogue in Lusaka.

The dialogue, co-chaired by the President Mahama and President Hakainde Hichilema of Zambia, provided a platform for Ghana to showcase its digital technologies and fintech services to Zambian businesses and government institutions.

It was also aimed at fostering economic partnerships and knowledge exchange between the two countries.

The moment with the woman who nearly fell was captured in a video shared on X by Graphic Online on Friday, February 6, 2026.

The footage showed the president on the dais with one official holding on to the woman to prevent her from falling.

As part of this tour, the president has already met with the Ghanaian community in Lusaka and has also addressed the National Assembly of Zambia, sharing Ghana's vision for a more integrated and prosperous Africa.

President Mahama's visit has reaffirmed the long-standing friendship between Ghana and Zambia, which dates back to the liberation struggles of Africa under the leadership of Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah and Dr Kenneth Kaunda.
