22-year-old Dr Nana Akosua Ohene-Darkoh is a rising medical doctor whose journey spans three continents and whose mission goes beyond the hospital walls.

Raised in Canada and the United Kingdom, but originally from Ghana, Nana now serves as a doctor in Oxford, bringing a truly global perspective to healthcare.

Her passion for medicine started early, but it was her love for children and advocacy that shaped her vision for the future.

She graduated from medical school in 2025, at the age of 22.

Today, Nana is the founder of Beyond the Common Stethoscope, an initiative dedicated to inspiring schoolchildren — particularly girls and those from underrepresented backgrounds — to believe in their dreams and see themselves in spaces where representation has historically been limited.

While in medical school, she held leadership positions, including serving as Deputy Representative for the British Medical Association, and later represented the United Kingdom as a delegate at the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women, amplifying the voices of young women and girls on a global platform.

Beyond her clinical responsibilities, Nana engages in public health research, quality improvement projects, and serves as a public reviewer for the National Institute for Health and Care Research, contributing to healthcare improvement at a national level.

But Nana’s influence doesn’t stop in the consulting room.

She is also a content creator, using social media to share her medical journey, lifestyle, and beauty content with a growing audience — proof that young women in medicine can lead with both intellect and creativity.

Balancing medicine, entrepreneurship, and advocacy, Dr Nana Ohene-Darkoh represents a new generation of healthcare leaders, one defined by purpose, representation, and impact.
