Yaa Gifty, the wife of the late Asante Kotoko supporter Nana Yaw Frimpong popularly known as Pooley, has appealed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, to ensure that those involved in her husband’s murder are brought to justice.

She stated that despite ongoing investigations, no significant progress has been made so far, and the suspects are believed to have gone into hiding.

During a visit by the Kotoko Global Supporters Council to pay tribute on the one-year anniversary of Pooley’s death, Gifty called on the IGP and the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, to intensify the probe so the culprits can face justice.

“I want to appeal to the IGP and others to continue the investigations. I am begging him to be merciful upon us and probe the case thoroughly. The person thinks he or she might have run but will definitely get tired along the way… The last time I saw Kurt, he asked me to stop crying, so I pray he does not forget this issue.

"It is not easy for me. I have been sleepless, waiting for my husband to return. I am saddened when I hear about team news, and I don’t want to watch matches. I don’t feel pain when I hear about deaths anymore because of what happened to my husband,” she told Asante Kotoko Global Fans TV.

However, she commended the Kotoko management for their support during these difficult times, saying “The Kotoko management have been very good to me, not necessarily with money, but their encouragement and consoling words have surpassed my understanding, and they’ve not betrayed me.”

Nana Pooley, a staunch supporter of Asante Kotoko, was stabbed to death on Sunday, February 2, 2025, during violent incidents during a Ghana Premier League match between Asante Kotoko and Nsoatreman FC at Nsoatre.
