The cemetery’s gravedigger, Kwame Effa, said he rushed to the site after receiving an urgent call about the situation.

“When I got there, I saw that the grave had been tampered with. The coffin had been opened and the body removed and left a few metres away. The head was missing. I suspect it may have been taken for ritual purposes,” he is reported to have said.

The deceased’s son, Yaw Nsoh, confirmed the development, expressing deep anguish over the treatment of his mother’s remains.

He noted that although the coffin, clothing and other burial items were still intact, the head had been cut off.

“I cannot sit back and allow anyone to disgrace my mother’s remains. I will pursue justice through every lawful means available,” he said.

Assembly Member for the Akyeremade Electoral Area, Kwame Nkrumah, described the incident as unprecedented in the area and called for swift investigations to bring the perpetrators to book.
