Legal education at risk. The distinction is with all due respect erroneous. The law simply makes provision for remission of one third of imprisonment for good conduct. Thus, one year to 9 months is a simple reckoning of the remission period. Where a judge states 12 months imprisonment, the same rule applies. A judge who does not intend to have a punishment affected by the remission will simply take the remission period into consideration in imposing the sentence. Let's get that!

Even with this, the prisons authority has the power to withhold or take the remission when it is discovered that the inmate in question is not conforming to prisons regulations whilst in jail. This has nothing to do with weekend and holidays. Take note.
We have various takes of remission and the commonly used one is the one- third remission system.
