Ghanaian businessman and traditional leader, Togbe Afede XIV has been appointed Chair of the Council of Global Advisors at the Yale School of Management (SOM), effective February 16, 2026.

The Yale University graduate business school stated that Togbe Afede’s appointment reflects his distinguished leadership, extensive experience, and impactful career across business and public life.

The Yale SOM Council of Global Advisors is made up of prominent global leaders who advise the school’s dean and senior leadership on strategies to strengthen the institution’s international presence and expand its global reach.

Members of the council, drawn from diverse professional and geographical backgrounds, actively contribute to shaping discussions, sharing expertise, and supporting key initiatives of the school.

As Chair, Togbe Afede XIV will lead a distinguished group of global advisors working closely with the Dean of the school, Kerwin Charles, and the institution’s leadership to advance the school’s strategic goals.

In this role, he will help set the council’s priorities, guide member engagement, and oversee the overall direction of the advisory body.

He is also expected to support efforts to strengthen student recruitment across different regions, enhance global awareness of the school’s mission and impact, and deepen partnerships with organisations around the world.

Togbe Afede XIV will serve a three-year term as chair, with the possibility of renewal.

He will also serve as an ex-officio member of the Yale SOM Board of Advisors during his tenure.
