The General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Reverend Stephen Wengam, has eulogised President John Dramani Mahama and his wife, Lordina Mahama, for their historic and ongoing contributions to the church’s image and development.

Speaking at the valedictory and retirement service in honour of Rev Joseph Baisie and Patricia Baisie at the Fountain of Glory Assemblies of God Church in East Legon, Rev Wengam described Mahama’s presidency as a landmark achievement for the Assemblies of God.

“They brought us the biggest honour. In 110 years globally in the Assemblies of God, he’s the first to become president of a country,” he said.

Beyond this historic recognition, Rev Wengam highlighted the couple’s continued support for the church community.

Meanwhile, President Mahama has previously shared how his wife, Lordina Mahama, personally cared for Rev Baisie following the passing of his wife.

According to him, she stepped in to provide comfort, preparing meals such as light soup and palmnut soup, and “adopted” him as family during his time of grief.
