The Deputy Minister for Finance, Thomas Nyarko Ampem, has presented a statement to Parliament of Ghana on the report of the Auditor-General of Ghana on government arrears and payables as at the end of 2024.

The statement, delivered on March 10, 2026, was presented on behalf of the Minister for Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, in accordance with Order 91(2) of Parliament’s Standing Orders.

Addressing the House on Tuesday, Nyarko Ampem explained that the report provides details on the status of government arrears and outstanding payables across various public institutions as captured by the Auditor-General.

The presentation forms part of Parliament’s oversight responsibilities, allowing lawmakers to review the accumulation of arrears within the public financial management system and assess measures being implemented by the Ministry of Finance to address them.

The report outlines the extent of outstanding financial obligations owed by government entities as at the end of the 2024 fiscal year, offering Parliament the opportunity to scrutinise the management of public finances and ensure accountability in the handling of state resources.

Under the Standing Orders of Parliament, the Minister responsible for Finance is required to formally present the Auditor-General’s report on arrears and payables to the House for consideration.

The statement was therefore laid before Parliament to enable members to take note of the findings and deliberate on the implications for government fiscal management.
