  Unfortunately, the harsh reality is that lots of so-called businesses set up through "nepotic" connections cannot really make money. They depend on freebies like tax breaks, customs and excise exemptions, dodging of mandatory fees, avoiding payment of license fees etc., They can hardly demonstrate positive EBIT (Earnings Before Interest and Taxes), a key metric used to demonstrate managerial capabilities in controlling costs and operating efficiently. Because it excludes the effects of financing (interest) and taxes, it provides a direct view of how well management can run the core business and generate profit.
