Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has announced plans to provide free tertiary education for children of cocoa farmers, reinforcing its commitment to supporting farmers and their families across the country.
According to a report by citinewsroom.com on Thursday, March 12, 2026, during an engagement with cocoa farmers from the Abuakwa North and Fanteakwa South districts in the Eastern Region, the Board Chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo affirmed that a committee has been established to review and implement the expanded scholarship scheme.

“The government has directed us to ensure that scholarships for children of cocoa farmers is extended to the tertiary level. A committee has been set up to oversee this, and we expect to bring its recommendations for implementation soon,” Dr Ofosu Ampofo stated.
He noted that there are ongoing efforts to support farmers’ operations, including the distribution of about 2,700 motorised spraying machines and 89,000 personal protective equipment (PPE) kits to enhance productivity and safety.
“As I speak to you now, these machines and PPE kits will be made available to cocoa farmers to improve their farming activities,” he added.
